This magnetic thermometer helps to ensure that your stove is not over-firing causing you to burn through wood too quickly. Burning wood too quickly doesn’t equal additional heat as excess energy is lost up the stovepipe. On the other side it informs you when your stoves burn rate is too cool. An under-fired woodstove is smoky and causes hazardous creosote ad tar to form in your stovepipe.
