This depends on the size of your burner. Our standard size is 10 inch, but we offer a range of sizes from small to large in length, as well as chunky or skinny logs so you have five sizes to choose from. If unsure, check your stove manual or give our friendly team a call and we’ll help you choose the right size.

The vast majority of our wood comes from within the UK. Many of our logs are sourced from managed woodland across Buckinghamshire and other surrounding counties and dried on our local site. Your logs could have come from just a few miles outside of Woburn Sands! By sourcing and drying our logs locally, we reduce unnecessary transport and support responsible forestry, helping to preserve the local countryside.

Woburn Sands was part of the Duke of Bedford’s estate, and local woods like Aspley Heath and Kings Wood were heavily managed for timber production. The timber , especially oak and beech, was harvested for:

Charcoal Burning in the Woods

• Before modern fuels, charcoal burning was a key woodland industry here.
• Charcoal pits were scattered through Aspley Heath and Bow Brickhill Woods.
• Charcoal burners would live in the woods seasonally, managing slow burns to convert logs to fuel.

The Commoners’ Fire Rights

• In the 18th and 19th centuries, local people known as commoners had rights to collect dead wood and gorse for burning.
• Fires were vital for heating, baking, and cooking — and gathering kindling was an important local chore.
